Multi-Directional Fixed Crack Model Extended to Masonry Structures

چکیده
The mechanical nonlinearity of a masonry structure depends on debonding and slip joints the fracture blocks like bricks concrete. present study proposes behavioral simulation to idealize by allocating three orthogonal planes, which are governed existing multi-directional crack model, represent damage using another planes. shear stiffness joint changes due disintegration infilling mortar caused joint, as well confining pressure dependence strength. Shear response analysis considering this was carried out, applicability model validated. following types structures were selected for validation: 1) in both damaged, 2) primarily damaged but deformation is not concentrated joints, 3) exclusively exempt damage. It confirmed that proposed can analyze mode structures. evaluates yield strength deformability estimated safe side an engineering viewpoint.

Modal Analysis of Masonry Structures
This paper presents a new numerical tool for evaluating the vibration frequencies and mode shapes of masonry buildings in the presence of cracks. The algorithm has been implemented within the NOSA-ITACA code, which models masonry as a nonlinear elastic material with zero tensile strength. Some case studies are reported, and the differences between linear and nonlinear behaviour highlighted.
متن کاملMulti-robot coverage to locate fixed targets using formation structures
This paper develops an algorithm that guides a multi-robot system in an unknown environment in search of fixed targets. The area to be scanned contains an unknown number of convex obstacles of unknown size and shape. The algorithm covers the entire free space in a sweeping fashion and as such relies on the use of robot formations. The geometry of the robot group is a lateral line formation, whi...
متن کاملA Numerical Model for Multi-leaf Stone Masonry
ABSTRACT This paper presents a non-linear finite element material model for the analysis of the mechanical behavior of multi-leaf masonry, which is quite frequently used in ancient stone masonry buildings. A damage model, previously developed by some of the authors for brittle materials (namely, concrete) was adapted to fit the experimental stress−strain behavior of stone masonry. To this end, ...
متن کاملTesting unreinforced masonry structures at reduced scale
When testing multi-story structures on a shaking table, most testing facilities require a reduced scale model. Producing scale test units at small scale is particularly challenging for unreinforced masonry structures. Previous work by other researchers showed that scaling of units and mortar joints is mandatory in order to obtain for the reduced scale masonry failure modes, which are similar to...
متن کاملModeling of FRP-Strengthened Infill Masonry Structures
This paper presents an analytical approach to describe the behavior and mode of failure of infill masonry structures strengthened with fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) materials. The approach is used to simulate the response of strengthened infill masonry walls under the effect of out-of-plane uniformly distributed pressure simulating wind pressure. The approach includes a finite element analysis...
